In the whirlwind of being a working parent, balancing career, family, and personal life is a demanding dance. Moments when work pressures, daily errands, or the occasional romantic dinner date arise can be both challenging and cherished.
As an avid user of the KIDDOCARE APP, I've witnessed the transformative power of this app on my parenting journey. It's a source of both security and convenience, resonating profoundly with me. Amid my frequent use, I've pinpointed an area ripe for improvement: The Active Session screen.
Why the active session? These screens are where I actively engage with the platform. Throughout an active (ongoing) session, I frequently access these screens to ensure the well-being of my children and the carer at home.
This case study embarks on a journey from the perspectives of both a parent and a UI/UX designer, delving into my user experiences and uncovering opportunities to elevate this critical aspect of the app.
A Closer Look:
1. Redesigned Main Session Display
1. Enhanced the entire UI while staying true to the brand's distinctive color palette.
2. Enhanced the card view layout for sessions with a toggle for all/active sessions.
3. Optimized UI white spaces to enhance visual comfort and user experience.
2. Redesigned Ongoing Session Display
1. Enhanced the UI/UX for ongoing sessions by reorganizing the hierarchy to meet user needs.
2. Revamped the session timeline design for enhanced visual appeal and incorporated CTA buttons to guide users in taking necessary actions (eg. when carer needs parents' to review check-in checklist document in order to start the session).
3. Enhanced the presentation of payment details breakdowns and receipts.
4*. Positioned the messaging icon at the latest session timeline for seamless access to the session's messaging channel, enhancing user convenience.
* In the current app, I am unable to access the messaging channel for past sessions. Because the latest session overwrites it. I strongly believe that it is important to be able to access past activities. It's crucial for both leaving reviews on carer and referencing media from previous sessions.
3. Redesigned Messaging Channel for Ongoing Session
1. Enhanced the messaging channel within the session screen. Introduced clear differentiation by using distinct colors for parents' and other users' chatboxes, making it easier to distinguish.
2. Integrated small avatars of other users into the channel, further enhancing the visual experience and providing a more engaging and user-friendly interface.
